Soy
Happy is a consumer driven organization which facilitates the addition
of veggie dogs and other popular vegetarian fare to mainstream public
venues. It was created in April of 2000, when director Johanna McCloy
began contacting baseball stadium concession managers to suggest adding
veggie dogs and other vegetarian items to their menues. At that time there
were no Major League Baseball stadiums carrying veggie dogs. This quest
generated a great wave of consumer support and national publicity, and
in one year, seven MLB parks added veggie dogs to their concessions. Today,
Soy Happy continues to open doors and facilitate the addition of popular
vegetarian items to concession fare...not only for baseball stadiums,
but for all mainstream venues.

ABOUT SOY
HAPPY'S FOUNDER Johanna
McCloy
Johanna
(pronounced yo-hawna) grew up in Spain, India, Japan, and Venezuela.
She moved to the United States after high school and graduated from Duke
University with a degree in Comparative Area Studies and a minor in Anthropology.
She speaks Spanish (her first language) and "manageable" Japanese.
Johanna
has worked as an English tutor; counselor; story analyst; researcher;
producer; casting director; and actress. She studied acting with legendary
acting teacher, Sanford Meisner, and has acted professionally in theatre,
TV, and film. She may be recognized for her role as Ensign Calloway in
Star
Trek: The Next Generation or for her numerous national commercials
(Purina Dog Chow; Ford Ranger; State Farm; Payless Shoes; Miller Lite;
Blue Cross, and more). You can hear her voice-overs in commercial spots
on Go Vegan! a radio
program that airs in California and over the Internet. Johanna is also
a writer with several published essays and articles. One essay about her
path to becoming a vegetarian is included in Lantern Books' Voices
from the Garden.
Johanna became a vegetarian in 1989. She is a passionate activist on
behalf of animals and the environment and it is her firm belief in the
power of consumers which prompted the creation of Soy Happy. "Your
voice makes a big difference!" she tells supporters. Soy Happy's
success in opening doors to so many Major League Ballparks in such a short
time clearly illustrates this fact.
